This book is what truly launched my love of fantasy. I read some of the classics before it, but there was something about Drizzt that captured me. I understand the hate Salvatore gets for being a 'corpo writer', but he also has a way of bringing the world and characters to life in a way that connects to me as no other author has.
I can't remember for sure, but I think this was the first Forgotten Realms book I ever read. Fun times!
